View on X >Stripe's 2025 Annual Letter dropped today - a good read for investors out there.
The big takeaway: The company now has a valuation of €135 billion ($159 billion).
Patrick and John Collison built a company that processed $1.9 trillion in payments last year. Let us repeat, $1.9 TRILLION!
That's roughly 1.6% of global GDP flowing through infrastructure built by two Irish lads who once coded on the kitchen table.
The letter is littered with incredible insights on the global business landscape.
Perhaps the most quietly Irish observation in the whole letter is the nod to the "Republic of Permissions." The idea that promising technologies fail not because of technical limits, but because of regulatory and cultural drag. The Collisons have always understood that building is a cultural act, not just a commercial one.
Two decades ago, two teenagers from a rural county in Ireland looked at how the internet handled money and thought: this is broken, and we can fix it.
The instinct to look at a broken system and believe you can rebuild it better is something Irish founders carry in abundance.
Bye Bye $PYPL.
